Honey B Gone® is an almond-scented fume-board liquid for harvest day. Applied to a fume board and set over an open honey super, its strong almond aroma encourages the bees to head down and out within minutes — so you can pull your honey in a single visit. Proudly made in the USA by a disabled-veteran-owned business.

Features

  • Strong almond aroma — encourages bees off the super in about 5–10 minutes
  • Works with any standard fume board
  • The fast option for single-visit harvest days
  • Made in the USA
  • Disabled-veteran-owned business
  • Available in 8oz, 16oz, 1-gallon, and 5-gallon sizes

How it works in real life

Honey B Gone works with a fume board — a cover with an absorbent felt underside. Apply a light coat to the felt, set the fume board on top of the open super, and the almond scent encourages the bees to head down and out within minutes. It's the fast counterpart to a bee escape: where an escape empties a super gradually overnight, a fume board works on the spot, which is why it's the harvest-day favorite for anyone pulling honey in a single visit. A little goes a long way — a light coat is plenty; over-applying wastes product and isn't more effective.

Directions for use

  1. Prepare your fume board, smoker, beekeeping gear, and Honey B Gone.
  2. Light the smoker and puff smoke at the hive entrance and under the top cover.
  3. Apply a light coat of Honey B Gone to the felt side of the fume board.
  4. Remove the hive's inner and outer covers.
  5. Place the fume board on the hive, felt side down, with the corners exposed.
  6. Wait 5–10 minutes for the bees to leave the honey super.
  7. Remove the honey super and harvest.
  8. Replace the inner and outer covers.

Before you order

You'll need a fume board to use Honey B Gone — the product goes on the board's felt, not directly on the hive. Work on a warm, sunny day for best results; the aroma volatilizes faster in the heat. Start with the 8oz for a few hives, step up to 16oz or the gallon for a larger operation, and the 5-gallon pail for commercial-scale harvesting. If you'd rather not use a liquid, a bee escape board clears supers overnight instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a fume board to use it?

Yes — Honey B Gone is applied to the felt underside of a fume board, which then sits on top of the open super. It isn't applied directly to the hive, the bees, or the comb.

How fast does it work?

About 5–10 minutes on a warm day. Heat helps the aroma volatilize, so sunny harvest days work best.

Does it touch the honey or the bees?

No — it goes on the fume board's felt, which sits above the open super. The board does the work from above; you don't apply it to the comb or the bees. As with any harvest aid, follow the label and SDS.

Fume board or bee escape — which should I use?

A fume board with Honey B Gone works in minutes — best for single-visit harvests. A bee escape needs overnight. Many beekeepers keep both.

Which size should I buy?

8oz for a few hives, 16oz or the gallon for a larger apiary, and the 5-gallon pail for commercial-scale harvesting.

Honey B Gone - amazing product!

I live in Central Illinois and ordered the Honey B Gone spray to test on a hive that moved into the soffit and brick of my parents home. I know a guy who is a bee keeper and gave it too him to try. It took three bee keepers to remove this hive. We are all blown away at how well this works. The bee keepers used this spray and smoke them out together. The bees couldn’t get out of the space fast enough and moved into the Nuc box they supplied. What an amazing product. The bee keepers are now believers in your product and are going to be looking to purchase some to have on hand.
Thank you for your quick shipment and producing such a safe and amazing product.

Honey Bees Went

Every spring I have bees that want to use my house walls for a hive and for the last 3+ years I have used Honey B Gone with GREAT success.
It immediately starts working and by the next morning, at active time, the bees are completely gone and dont return during swarm season. And the best part is it doesn't kill them.

Honey-B-Gine

Used several little bottles over last few years. Now bought a gallon to refill, great for moving bee swarms when to windy for smoke or they keep going back to same spot. Sometimes saves from making bigger cavity when do removals. Like when they keep going back farther in ceilings.

Works great!

Used Honey B Gone for my very first bee removal after I cut a tree down that had honey bees in it. Smoked the bottom of the hive and then added a small amount of this the smoker and it pushed them right out the top along with the queen. Put them in a box with frames and they are doing great so far.

Amazing and useful for removals

I use this spray after completing a bee removal and to try to prevent any future bees from settling into the same space. I recommend it to all of my clients with issues of reinfestations of honey bees.

Great item. Keeps the bees away without killing them.

This product is not as good as Fishers. We used it on a relatively warm day and couldn't get the bee's to react to it. We switched to Fishers and the bee's went nuts trying to get out. Both products smell the same, but there is something very different about them.

Great stuff!!!

I purchased b b gone to attempt removal of a swarm of bees that got behind my brick fireplace , after spraying the entire area around the hive entrance around 10am the bees didn't get close to the hive.
I tried pouring and spraying b b gone in the entrance in hope to make the queen leave and take the swarm with but it didn't happen.
This is not what this product is made for but I was hoping it could.
When it comes to moving bees in the hive this spray is excellent.

Honey B Gone should be called Bees B out of here

I think it is the best you can buy. I use it on cut outs to drive the bees out of hard to reach areas. Works instantly and way better than smoke.

Excellent repellent for removal work

I am a full time honeybee removal specialist. This is 1 of the most important ways to clear out a cavity in structures, especially when the bees are out of reach. I NEVER use this product on my own colonies as it is very toxic to bees and it burns human skin and lung tissues if inhaled...BEWARE and use sparingly...Beefriendlyapiary.com

I works

We have a bee removal business and use this stuff a lot. You spray a little and the bees leave the area for a long time. As long as you don't spray them directly it doesn't hurt them at all. www.hawaiibeehotline.com
