Instructions for Using a Universal Fume Board

1. Adjust the fume board for your hive size by removing the slat ( for an 8-frame hive or leaving it in for a 10-frame hive.
2. On a warm, sunny day, place the fume board in direct sunlight for 5-10 minutes to warm it up. This helps the fumes vaporize better.
3. Apply Honey-B-Gone to the absorbent pad on the underside of the board: squirt around the perimeter and make an "X" in the center.
4. Remove the hive's outer and inner covers, then place the fume board (pad side down) on top of the honey super you want to clear.
5. Wait 5-10 minutes for the fumes to drive the bees downward into the brood chamber.
6. Lift the super off the hive once mostly bee-free; brush or shake any remaining bees back into the hive.
7. Repeat for additional supers if needed, reapplying Honey-B-Gone as necessary.
