Standard Hive Tool with Scraper | Blythewood Bee Company
The standard hive tool with scraper is the flat stainless steel bar most beekeepers reach for first. One end pries supers and frames apart where propolis has glued them; the bent scraper end cleans burr comb and propolis off frames, boxes, and the bottom board. Simple, inexpensive, and the tool you reach for on every visit.
What it does
- Pries apart boxes and frames stuck with propolis
- Lifts and loosens frames in the box
- Scrapes burr comb and propolis off woodenware
- Flat profile slips into tight frame gaps
How beekeepers use it
Slide the flat end between two boxes or under a frame lug and twist to break the propolis seal, then work down the row. Flip to the scraper end to clean wax and propolis off the top bars and rims before you close up. They are inexpensive enough to keep a spare in every kit.
Pairs well with
- Stainless Steel Hive Frame Grip — lift frames without crushing bees
- Natural Horsehair Bee Brush — sweep bees off frames gently
