How it works in real life

Slide a band over the cork-sealed jar neck, then apply heat. A heat gun is the standard tool and gives the cleanest result; a hair dryer on its hottest setting works for small batches; a steam tunnel is fastest for production volumes. The band shrinks tightly around the cork and the upper rim of the jar, sealing the cork in place and creating a tamper-evident finish. When your customer is ready to open the honey, the vertical perforation lets them twist the band off with a thumb — no tools, no struggle.

These are sized specifically for the 8 oz Muth jar. They will not fit our 4 oz, 1 lb (16 oz), or other jar sizes — each Muth size has its own band. If you bottle in multiple sizes, you'll need the matching band for each.

What tool do I need to shrink these bands?

A heat gun is the standard tool and gives the cleanest result. A hair dryer on its hottest setting also works (slower, but fine for small batches). For production volumes, a steam tunnel is fastest. Don't use an open flame — it scorches the film and ruins the finish.

How tight is the shrink?

The band shrinks firmly around the cork and the upper jar rim, holding the cork securely in place. Your customer can still twist the band off with their thumb thanks to the vertical perforation, so it doesn't require any tool to open.

Will my customers be able to tell if a band is broken or missing?

Yes — that's the whole point of a tamper-evident band. If the perforation is broken or the band is missing, the jar has been opened. A clean, intact band confirms the honey hasn't been touched since you finished bottling. This is especially valuable for honey sold at markets, gift shops, or food service.

Can I reuse these bands?

No. Heat shrink bands shrink permanently with the first heat application. Once applied, they have to be cut or torn off and discarded. Don't try to slide them off a finished jar — they won't fit any other jar afterward.

Will these fit my other Muth jars?
