Portable Uncapping Bench
A low-cost portable uncapping bench that turns any standard 5-gallon bucket into a hands-free uncapping station. It clamps over the bucket rim, holds your frame steady on the built-in rest, and lets the wax cappings drop straight into the bucket while you work — so you can uncap with both hands and strain right from the same pail.
Features
- Fits any standard 5-gallon bucket (bucket and frame not included)
- Integrated stabilizing notches grip the bucket rim
- Built-in frame rest for hands-free uncapping
- Underside recessed arch adds stability while you work
- Includes a stainless steel nail and predrilled hole for traditional 360° frame rotation
How it works in real life
Set the bench across the top of an empty 5-gallon bucket so the stabilizing notches catch the rim. Stand your frame on the frame rest, then run your uncapping knife or scratcher down the comb — the cappings and honey fall straight into the bucket below. Because the bench holds the frame for you, both hands stay free for the knife. When you're done, the cappings are already in the pail ready to strain and drain. For full 360° rotation, drop the included stainless nail into the predrilled hole and spin the frame as you work each side.
Before you order
The bucket and frame are not included — this is the bench only. It fits standard 5-gallon buckets, the same size used across our honey pails and gates. Pair it with an uncapping knife (smooth or serrated), a capping scratcher for the corners, and a roller for fast cell-breaking.
Pairs Well With
- Double-Sided Honey Uncapping Knife — smooth Z-shape blade for fresh cappings
- Serrated Uncapping Knife — saws through firmer cappings
- Capping Scratcher Deluxe (Plastic) — clears the spots a knife misses

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it come with a bucket?
No — the bench clamps onto a bucket you supply. Any standard 5-gallon pail works, including our honey buckets.
What's the stainless nail for?
It drops into the predrilled hole to act as a pivot, so you can rotate the frame a full 360° and uncap every side without lifting it off the bench.
Will it hold deep frames?
Yes — the frame rest accommodates medium and deep frames. Taller frames simply extend above the bench while the cappings drop into the bucket.
How do I clean it?
Warm soapy water. The smooth plastic surface rinses clean of wax and honey easily; dry before storing.
