Savogran oxalic acid wood bleach lightens unfinished or stripped wood and lifts out the marks other cleaners leave behind — the black water rings and gray tannin streaks that show up on aged or weathered lumber. It’s crystalline oxalic acid that brings tired pine back to a clean, even tone.

Features

  • Bleaches unfinished or freshly stripped wood
  • Removes black water spots and gray tannin stains
  • Evens out discoloration so patched or mismatched boards blend
  • Works on outdoor woodwork as well as indoor
  • 12 oz of dry crystals — mixes to make about a gallon of solution
  • Includes a measuring scoop

How to use it

Dissolve the crystals in a gallon of hot water per the package directions. Brush the solution onto clean, unfinished wood with a synthetic brush or sponge, keeping the surface evenly wet, and let it work. Deep stains or very gray wood may need a second or third coat to reach the lightness you want. When you’re done, rinse the wood, let it dry fully, then sand lightly before finishing. Work in a ventilated area, wear gloves and eye protection, and keep it off metal hardware.

Before you order

  • What’s included: one 12 oz container of oxalic acid wood bleach crystals with a measuring scoop.
  • Coverage: the 12 oz makes roughly one gallon of working solution.
  • Best on: bare, unfinished, or stripped wood, including raw pine woodenware. It won’t bleach through paint, stain, or sealer, so strip those first.

FAQ

How much will 12 oz cover?

Mixed into a gallon of hot water, a 12 oz container makes about a gallon of working solution — enough for a number of pieces, depending on how porous the wood is and how many coats you apply.

Does it need ventilation?

Yes. Use it in a well-ventilated area, wear gloves and eye protection, and avoid breathing the dust while mixing. Follow the safety directions on the package.

Will it work over paint or stain?

No. Wood bleach works on bare, unfinished, or stripped wood. Remove any paint, stain, or sealer first so the solution can reach the wood.

How many coats will I need?

One coat lightens most wood noticeably. Heavily stained or weathered boards may take two or three coats to even out — let each coat dry before reapplying.
