General-purpose flint glass jars at this size are what bottlers use when they need more capacity than a dedicated honey jar (like our 1 lb Muth) and want a screw-top closure instead of cork or lug. By honey weight, a fully filled 16 oz jar holds about 1.3–1.5 lb of honey (honey is denser than water). For jam, preserves, and dry goods, the 16 fl oz capacity gives you room to work with standard recipe yields. The 70-G450 continuous thread is an industry-standard finish, paired here with white metal plastisol-lined lids for a reliable food-safe vacuum seal.
Before you order
The "16 oz" refers to fluid capacity (473 mL), not honey weight. At full fill the jar holds about 1.5 lb of honey by weight; with typical 10–15% headspace for the sealed lid, plan for ~1.3 lb of honey per jar. The included lids are 70-G450 continuous thread — NOT a lug finish. One lid SKU fits both this 16 oz Flint jar AND the 32 oz Flint jar in our lineup — both jars use the 70-G450 finish. Lids are not interchangeable with our Muth jars (cork), hex jars (lug), or Skep jars (53 CT).
