Honey B Gone®: Fume Board Honey Harvesting Aid
Honey B Gone® is an almond-scented fume-board liquid for harvest day. Applied to a fume board and set over an open honey super, its strong almond aroma encourages the bees to head down and out within minutes — so you can pull your honey in a single visit. Proudly made in the USA by a disabled-veteran-owned business.

- Strong almond aroma — encourages bees off the super in about 5–10 minutes
- Works with any standard fume board
- The fast option for single-visit harvest days

How it works in real life
Honey B Gone works with a fume board — a cover with an absorbent felt underside. Apply a light coat to the felt, set the fume board on top of the open super, and the almond scent encourages the bees to head down and out within minutes. It's the fast counterpart to a bee escape: where an escape empties a super gradually overnight, a fume board works on the spot, which is why it's the harvest-day favorite for anyone pulling honey in a single visit. A little goes a long way — a light coat is plenty; over-applying wastes product and isn't more effective.
Directions for use
- Prepare your fume board, smoker, beekeeping gear, and Honey B Gone.
- Light the smoker and puff smoke at the hive entrance and under the top cover.
- Apply a light coat of Honey B Gone to the felt side of the fume board.
- Remove the hive's inner and outer covers.
- Place the fume board on the hive, felt side down, with the corners exposed.
- Wait 5–10 minutes for the bees to leave the honey super.
- Remove the honey super and harvest.
- Replace the inner and outer covers.
Before you order
You'll need a fume board to use Honey B Gone — the product goes on the board's felt, not directly on the hive. Work on a warm, sunny day for best results; the aroma volatilizes faster in the heat. Start with the 8oz for a few hives, step up to 16oz or the gallon for a larger operation, and the 5-gallon pail for commercial-scale harvesting. If you'd rather not use a liquid, a bee escape board clears supers overnight instead.
Pairs Well With
- Ceracell Bee Escape — overnight, no-liquid alternative
- Round Plastic 8-Way Bee Escape — smaller insert-style escape
- Natural Horsehair Bee Brush — for clearing any stragglers
- Double-Sided Honey Uncapping Knife — for the uncapping step at harvest

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a fume board to use it?
Yes — Honey B Gone is applied to the felt underside of a fume board, which then sits on top of the open super. It isn't applied directly to the hive, the bees, or the comb.
How fast does it work?
About 5–10 minutes on a warm day. Heat helps the aroma volatilize, so sunny harvest days work best.
Does it touch the honey or the bees?
No — it goes on the fume board's felt, which sits above the open super. The board does the work from above; you don't apply it to the comb or the bees. As with any harvest aid, follow the label and SDS.
Fume board or bee escape — which should I use?
A fume board with Honey B Gone works in minutes — best for single-visit harvests. A bee escape needs overnight. Many beekeepers keep both.
Which size should I buy?
8oz for a few hives, 16oz or the gallon for a larger apiary, and the 5-gallon pail for commercial-scale harvesting.
