Varroa Test & Control Starter Pack
Varroa Test & Control Starter Pack
Take a simple, practical approach to Varroa mite management with the Varroa Test & Control Starter Pack. This bundle combines a reusable Double Jar Varroa Mite Test for monitoring mite levels with the NoVarroa Oxalic Acid Vaporizer for oxalic acid treatment when treatment is needed.
What's Included
- Double Jar Varroa Mite Test – A reusable two-chamber test jar designed for both alcohol washes and powdered-sugar rolls. The screened lid separates dislodged mites from the bees, making mites easy to see and count.
- NoVarroa Oxalic Acid Vaporizer – An entrance-style vaporizer that allows you to apply oxalic acid through the hive entrance without opening the hive. It features a metal sublimation pan, wooden handle, removable entrance sealer, and heavy-gauge cables for connection to a 12-volt battery.
How It Works
1. Test your hive
Collect approximately ½ cup (about 300 bees) from a brood frame and perform an alcohol wash or powdered-sugar roll using the Double Jar Mite Test.
2. Check your mite level
Shake the sample for 60–90 seconds, separate the mites from the bees, and count the mites collected in the bottom chamber.
3. Control Varroa when needed
When your mite count indicates that treatment is appropriate, use the NoVarroa Oxalic Acid Vaporizer to apply oxalic acid through the hive entrance without opening the hive.

Before You Order
The vaporizer requires your own 12-volt battery and oxalic acid. Always follow the instructions and application rates on your oxalic acid product label. Wear appropriate protective equipment, including acid-rated gloves, eye protection, and a respirator suitable for oxalic acid vapor.
Note: The Double Jar Varroa Mite Test is a monitoring tool and does not treat Varroa mites. The alcohol-wash method kills the sample bees, while the powdered-sugar method allows the bees to be returned to the hive.
