Propolis Trap 10 Frame
Turn your hive's natural sealant into a second harvest. This flexible polyethylene propolis screen replaces your inner cover — bees pack its narrow grooves with propolis, which pops out clean after a night in the freezer.
Features
- Flexible tubular polyethylene — bends without cracking for easy propolis release
- Drop-in replacement for a 10-frame inner cover
- Grooved surface bees naturally fill with propolis
- Freezer-harvest method yields clean, debris-free propolis
- Reusable for years of service
- An economical way to start collecting propolis
How it works
- Remove your inner cover and set the trap on the top bars, beneath the outer cover.
- Leave a slight gap so the bees treat the openings as something to seal, packing the grooves with propolis.
- When full, place the trap in a plastic bag and freeze overnight.
- Twist or rap the frozen trap inside the bag — the brittle propolis cracks loose for collection.
Before you order
- Fits 10-frame equipment only.
- Autumn is typically the peak propolis season — plan harvests accordingly.
- Propolis turns sticky in warm weather; chill the trap before handling.
Pairs Well With
- Plastic Pollen Trap — add a pollen harvest alongside your propolis
- Sundance Pollen Trap — premium bottom-mount pollen collection

FAQ
How is this different from a pollen trap? A propolis trap collects propolis (the resin bees use to seal the hive) from the top of the colony; a pollen trap collects pollen at the entrance. They harvest two different hive products.
How do I get the propolis out? Freeze the trap in a bag overnight, then flex or twist it — propolis turns brittle when cold and cracks free.
Will using it harm the colony? No — collecting propolis is non-invasive, and the bees continually produce more.
