4 3/4" Shallow Thin Surplus Foundation
Thin surplus foundation made for comb honey — the thinnest beeswax sheet we carry, sized for 4 3/4" shallow frames. The slim, unwired wax lets bees draw tender, edible comb that cuts cleanly for cut-comb and section honey, with no wire to pick out.
Features
- Ultra-thin 100% beeswax for tender, edible comb honey.
- Unwired — the finished comb cuts clean with nothing to remove.
- Sized for 4 3/4" shallow frames.
- Sold in 10-sheet, 50-sheet, and 450-sheet quantities.
How it works
Set a sheet in each shallow comb-honey frame and give the bees a strong nectar flow — they'll draw and cap clean white comb you can cut into squares or sections straight from the frame. Because the sheet is unwired, there's nothing to remove before packaging.
Before you order
Use a wedged or grooved top bar for a secure fit, and install during a flow for the fastest draw-out. This is the shallow depth; for medium comb-honey frames see the 5 5/8" Medium Thin Surplus Foundation. Shipping note: we don't recommend shipping wax below 32°F, since cold wax turns brittle — ordering during a hard freeze is at your own risk for cold-weather breakage.
Pairs Well With
- 5 5/8" Medium Thin Surplus Foundation — the medium depth of the same comb-honey wax, for medium frames.
- Deep Cut Comb Foundation — the same thin, unwired wax sized for deep frames.
