Formic Pro is a ready-to-use formic acid strip for Varroa mite control — one of the few treatments that reaches mites under the brood cap as well as the phoretic mites on adult bees, and it can be applied with honey supers on. This is the 10-treatment pack, sized for a small apiary.

Features

  • Formic acid gel strips — 83–97% efficacy, and kills mites under the cap
  • Ready to use straight from the pail — no mixing
  • Leaves no residue in honey or wax when used per the label
  • Biodegradable, compostable strips — no removal required after treatment
  • 24-month (2-year) shelf life
  • 10-treatment pack

How to use it

Apply when your mite counts hit the local treatment threshold. The label gives two options:

  • Option 1: 2 strips on the brood frames for 14 days.
  • Option 2: 1 strip for 10 days, then remove and replace with a second strip for another 10 days.

Formic acid is temperature-sensitive — follow the product label for the daytime-high window, placement, and protective equipment. Always read and follow the label.

Before you order

This is the 10-treatment pack (small apiary). Formic Pro also comes in a 2-treatment pack for a couple of hives and a 30-treatment pack for larger operations. Formic Pro is a registered miticide; use strictly per the label.

FAQ

Can I treat with honey supers on?

Yes — Formic Pro is labeled for use with supers on and leaves no residue in honey or wax when used per the label.

Does it kill mites under the cap?

Yes — that's its main advantage. The formic acid vapor reaches reproductive mites under the brood cap, not just phoretic mites on adults.

Do I remove the strips?

No removal is required — the strips are biodegradable and break down in the hive.

What about temperature?

Formic acid is temperature-sensitive; follow the label's daytime-high range to protect brood and the queen.
