Natural Beeswax Pearls
Pure, filtered beeswax in small pellet form — the easiest way to keep beeswax on hand for the dozens of jobs around the apiary and the workshop that call for it. No chopping a brick, no fighting a slab in a double boiler. Scoop, measure, melt.
Features
- 100% pure, naturally yellow beeswax from Strahl & Pitsch
- Pellet form melts evenly and measures cleanly by weight or volume
- Characteristic mild beeswax aroma — nothing added, nothing extracted
- Sold in three sizes: Half Pound (try-it size), One Pound (most popular), and 55 lb Box (bulk for production work)
How it works
For frame rewaxing, melt the pellets in a double boiler or dedicated wax pot, then paint or roll a thin coat onto plastic foundation. Bees draw waxed plastic noticeably faster than bare plastic — a heavier wax coating can shave a full inspection cycle off the draw-out time, especially in a slow nectar flow.
For candle making, the pellets are pre-portioned in a way that block wax isn't — much faster to weigh out and warm up. For cosmetics, the small pellet size dissolves quickly into oils for salves, lip balms, and lotion bars without scorching the bottom of your pan.
Before you order
- Pick the size that matches the job. Half Pound is enough to wax a couple dozen frames or run a small batch of lip balm. One Pound covers a typical season of repair work. The 55 lb Box is production-scale — full pallet of frames, candle inventory, or wholesale cosmetic work.
- Cosmetic grade. Strahl & Pitsch is a longstanding wax refiner serving the cosmetics and candle industries — these pearls are clean enough for skin-contact applications without additional filtering.
- Storage. Beeswax keeps indefinitely in a sealed container at room temperature. No refrigeration needed.
Pairs Well With
- Medium Crimp Wire Beeswax Foundation — for rewaxing or adding a heavier coat to existing medium foundation.
- Shallow Crimp Wire Beeswax Foundation — for honey supers and shallow comb work.
- Deep Crimp Wired Beeswax Foundation — for brood-chamber rewaxing.
- Premier Plastic Foundation, Double Waxed — already heavily waxed at the factory, but many beekeepers add another coat to encourage faster draw-out.
- Stainless Steel Double Wall Wax Melting Pot — purpose-built double boiler that keeps the wax at the right temperature without scorching.

FAQ
Are these food grade?
Strahl & Pitsch produces this wax for the cosmetic and candle industries, so it's filtered well beyond what beekeeping work requires. For applications that need a formal food-grade certification (commercial lip balm labeling, for example), confirm the spec with the manufacturer directly.
How much wax does it take to rewax foundation?
Plan on roughly 1 ounce of wax per 10 deep frames for a thin recoat, or about 2 ounces per 10 frames for a heavy coat. A one-pound bag will handle 80–160 deep frames depending on how thick you lay it on.
Why pearls instead of a brick?
Pearls melt faster, measure cleaner, and don't waste the off-cuts that come from sawing a brick. For anything smaller than a 25 lb melt, pearls are easier to work with.
Will the 55 lb box ship UPS?
Yes — it's packed for freight or ground shipping. Plan on a few days extra in transit compared to small items, and a heavier shipping charge to reflect the weight.
Does the color vary?
Beeswax color varies seasonally and by floral source. Expect bright yellow to a slightly deeper gold; the exact shade is part of the product. Color does not affect performance.
