Pocket Digital Refractometer - Honey
The digital honey refractometer takes the guesswork out of reading your honey — drop in a sample as small as 1 ml and read moisture, Baumé and Brix straight off the LCD. No squinting through an eyepiece, and no holding it up to the light.
Features
- Reads honey on three scales — Baumé (Be), water content and Brix
- Digital LCD readout — no optical eyepiece to interpret
- One-button calibration to distilled water
- Automatic temperature compensation and auto shutoff after 3 minutes
- Reads samples as small as 1 ml, with results in seconds
- Water-resistant case protects the electronics and wipes clean
- Low-battery indicator (about 8,000 readings per battery)
Why moisture matters
Honey harvested at the right moisture stores well; honey pulled too wet can ferment in the jar. A quick reading before you extract tells you whether the crop is ready, so you bottle with confidence and avoid wasted honey.
How to use it
Place a small sample on the sensor and let it settle to room temperature, then read the result on the LCD. Calibrate to distilled water first using the included instructions, and wipe the sensor clean between samples for accurate readings.

FAQ
What moisture level should harvested honey be?
Beekeepers generally aim to harvest honey below about 18.5% moisture, since higher levels risk fermentation in the jar. Check the reading before pulling supers.
How is the digital model different from an optical refractometer?
It gives you a numeric readout on an LCD instead of a scale you read through an eyepiece, with automatic temperature compensation — faster to read and easier to keep accurate. If you prefer reading through an eyepiece, see our honey moisture refractometer.
Do I need to calibrate it?
Yes. Calibrate to distilled water before first use with the included instructions, and check it periodically so your readings stay trustworthy.
