Stainless Steel J-Hook Hive Tool & Frame Lifter
The stainless steel J-hook hive tool handles the two jobs you reach for most during an inspection: the hooked end slips under a propolis-locked frame and levers it up cleanly, and the flat end pries boxes apart and scrapes away burr comb and wax.
Features
- J-shaped hook end that lifts frames glued down with propolis
- Flat, beveled end for prying boxes and scraping comb and propolis
- Built-in nail puller
- One-piece stainless steel — easy to clean and sanitize between hives
- About 11 inches long, and slim enough to reach tight spaces a bulkier tool can’t
How it works in the hive
Slide the hook under the end bar of a stuck frame and rock it against the box edge — the hook and notch act as a lever, so the frame breaks free without crushing bees or bending the tool. Flip to the flat end to crack the inner cover, separate supers, or scrape build-up off the top bars and rims. Because it’s solid stainless steel, a quick wipe or a dip in a sanitizing solution cleans it before you move to the next colony.

FAQ
Is this the same as a hive lifter machine?
No. This is a hand tool for lifting individual frames and prying apart boxes. It isn’t a powered or mechanical device for raising whole hives.
Will it work on 8-frame and 10-frame hives?
Yes — it’s a standard hive tool that works with both 8- and 10-frame Langstroth setups.
How is the J-hook different from a standard hive tool?
The hooked end is shaped to grab and lift a frame’s end bar, which makes pulling propolis-stuck frames easier than a flat-only tool. You still get a flat scraping and prying end as well.
