Measure Your Mite Levels, Fight Varroa

  • Made of 2 Containers & Screened Lid
  • Use with Sugar Method/Alcohol Wash Method
  • Accurate Method to Gauge Varroa Mite % in Hive
  • Simple & Easy-to-use
The Double Jar Varroa Mite Counter is a reliable, professional way to test your hives for Varroa Mite levels, as combined with either the powdered sugar method or alcohol wash method.
Made of two containers joined by a screened lid, the screen keeps the bees on one side and separates the Varroa Mites to the other. Through accurately measuring the level of infestation you have in your hive, you can then decide which of the following treatments that will give your hive the best chance of recovery.
  1. Place a half a cup of alcohol in one of the jars.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of nurse bees to the jar with the alcohol.
  3. Screw jars back together quickly.
  4. Shake Bees vigorously for about 60 to 90 seconds.
  5. Turn jar upside down so that all of the alcohol drains into the bottom jar.
  6. Count mites and then divide by 3. This gives you the percentage of mites in your hive.
